Sober Spill is a recovery and mental health podcast by Mountainside Treatment Center, focused on honest conversations about addiction recovery, sobriety, and life after substance use. Hosted by individuals with lived recovery experience alongside clinicians and industry professionals, the podcast explores real recovery stories, harm reduction, mental health education, and modern treatment perspectives. Sober Spill aims to reduce stigma around substance use disorder, support people at every stage of recovery, and offer practical insight into what healing and sobriety actually look like in real life.

Isabel
Isabel is a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. At Mountainside, Isabel draws upon her personal experience in long-term recovery and her professional experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders to provide compassionate support to our Mountainside alumni. Prior to Mountainside, Isabel supported individuals in the recovery community in the roles of a sober coach and case manager. Isabel’s goal is to guide, support, and encourage Mountainside alumni to remain optimistic and motivated for their recovery journey. She also spearheads the planning and execution of all our alumni events in each of our locations to keep our alumni network engaged and connected. In her free time, Isabel enjoys painting, spending time with friends, and doing service work.
Jana is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor with a master’s degree in social work from Smith College. Jana specializes in treating post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, and co-occurring disorders. With experience in therapeutic roles throughout Mountainside’s continuum, she is especially skilled at navigating complex family dynamics and supporting veterans as well as healthcare and wellness professionals. Jana ensures clients receive quality, individualized treatment by supporting staff development and training. In her sessions, she draws from Acceptance Commitment Therapy, as well as utilizes EMDR and somatic and experiential therapies. Additionally, she incorporates mindfulness and breathwork through her experience as a yoga teacher. She also co-chairs the Addictions Committee for the National Association of Social Workers of Connecticut. Jana enjoys practicing meditation and traveling with her family.
